Transgrid required the construction of foundations for 8x new 330kV lattice transmission towers. Six of the foundations were of cruciform construction, the other two were deep embedment concrete pad footings and concrete columns. The SOW also included the demolition foundations for 12x existing redundant lattice towers on completion of the diversion works. The largest concrete pour conducted on the project was 500m3 in one cruciform footing. Access challenges due to the use of existing fire trails made coordinating the safe delivery of approx. 100 trucks of concrete which was a crucial element of the project.
