Overview
Milleen Constructions was engaged to construct a new reinforced concrete reservoir at the Dungog Water Treatment Plant. The project formed part of essential water infrastructure upgrades, designed to improve water security and treatment capacity for the Hunter region.
Scope of Works
- Bulk excavation and detailed site preparation in challenging hillside conditions
- Installation of bored piles socketed into high-strength rock to provide a stable foundation
- Reinforced concrete base slab construction with complex circular reinforcement cages
- Formwork, reinforcement, and staged concrete pours for 12ML water-retaining walls
- Integration of inlet/outlet pipework and penetrations into the reservoir structure
- Delivery of works under strict water industry durability, watertightness, and safety requirements
Outcome
The project required specialist expertise in piling and water-retaining concrete structures. By anchoring the reservoir foundations into high-strength rock, Milleen Constructions ensured structural stability and long-term performance. The reservoir was successfully delivered to program, providing a durable storage solution to support the operation of the Dungog Water Treatment Plant and secure water supply for the Hunter region.
