Overview

Milleen Constructions was engaged to deliver critical civil and structural works for Centennial Coal’s Mandalong Power Station. Developed in partnership with Energy Developments Limited (EDL), the facility was designed to generate up to 8 MW of electricity by converting waste coal
mine gas (WCMG) into usable power. This provided both a reliable on-site energy source for the mine and a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

Scope of Works
  • Reinforced concrete foundations, slabs, and plinths for generators, transformers, and auxiliary equipment
  • Structural works to support gas engine installation and balance-of-plant infrastructure
  • Service trenches and underground conduit installation
  • Integration of civil packages within a live operational mine site under strict safety and environmental controls
Outcome

The project successfully supported the delivery of a long-term, sustainable energy solution for Centennial Coal’s Mandalong operations. Milleen Constructions’ civil works provided the structural foundation for a power station capable of supplying mine demand while capturing and re-using fugitive methane gas. The facility, backed by a 20-year contract between EDL and Centennial Coal, now contributes to both operational efficiency and emissions reduction goals.
